With the help of Rick, that dream grew into Teal Penguin Kitchens—a trusted name for snacks made with transparency and care.

But the journey didn’t stop there. One evening, Jeannine lit a candle and experienced an unexpected allergic reaction—something she never imagined from a product meant to create a soothing atmosphere. After digging deeper, she discovered the culprit: an essential oil derived from tree nuts, hidden behind an innocent-sounding fragrance name. That moment changed everything.

Jeannine was frustrated by how often tree nut oils appear in unexpected products—sometimes unlabeled or buried in long ingredient lists. In household and cosmetic products, manufacturers aren’t required to include “contains/may contain” allergen statements. When a label lists thirty ingredients, it’s easy to miss something important.
