These are marketing and not scientific terms. No candle is completely free of combustion byproducts. Any time something burns — wood, wax, essential oils, fragrance oils — it produces substances that some people may be sensitive to. We avoid “non‑toxic” claims because they oversimplify a complex reality. Transparency is more respectful than absolutes.

Soy wax is hydrogenated soybean oil, not a raw agricultural product. The refining process removes plant solids, proteins, and residues. Farming practices vary, but the finished wax is filtered, cleaned, and purified. The myth comes from confusing soy farming with soy wax production. They are not the same. -
Essential oils are too flammable for use in candles
Essential oils are flammable — but that does not make them unsafe in candles. The concern comes from their flash points, which often fall between 90°F and 140°F. A flash point simply means the temperature at which vapors could ignite if exposed to a flame or spark.
